Filmmaker John Carpenter was honored on Saturday at one of Western Kentucky University's Commencement ceremonies.
Carpenter received an honorary doctorate Saturday morning.
Carpenter is best known for his movies "Escape from New York", "The Thing", "Vampires", and "Halloween."
He attended WKU from 1965 to 1968 before attending film school at the University of Southern California.
He was also inducted into Western's Hall of Distinguished Alumni in 1999.
This past week, Carpenter met with students on May 10th and 11th as part of his visit to campus.
