Attorney General Greg Stumbo has alerted federal lawmakers to gas price-gouging evidence his office uncovered.
Just last week Stumbo announced after an 18 month investigation, an $89 million lawsuit was filed against Marathon Petroleum Company. The suit accuses the fuel supplier of violating state price-gouging laws in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
Stumbo has contacted members of the United States House and Senate. His letter addressed to members of committees investigating national gas pricing and studying a possible federal price-gouging statue, said he’ll share the information in response to a Congressional subpoena.
