"I'm hoping to get some bargains," said Barbara Willoughby, a shopper from Mayfield, Kentucky. "I don't really know why I'm out this early, but I am."

You may have been asking yourself that same question Friday morning, but for many people Black Friday means setting the alarm and waking up way too early to take advantage of those shopping deals.

We joined the crowds Friday morning as some people tried to share the spirit of Christmas through Black Friday shopping.

"The fun Christmas spirit," said Peggy Leach, a shopper from Hartford, Kentucky. "It starts my Christmas time, and it's just a lot of fun."

"It's a great way to catch deals and start your Christmas shopping early, and you get to go through all of the hectic crowd," said Emily Towe, a shopper from Allen County.

The lines were long at several stores Friday morning.

While some stayed bundled up against the cold, others waited in their vehicles for the doors to open.

"It's a tradition," said Leach. "The day of Thanksgiving we get all of the ads out, and we map a way we're going to be going."

Some say it is a tradition, and they have been shopping on Black Friday for years.

Others do not enjoy having to get up early to catch the deals.

"This is my second time, and it'll be last time," said Willoughby.

"It's mostly happy people," said Keaton Reeves, Home Life Supervisor at Best Buy. "You can tell people are tired, but people are excited, ready for the deals. It's a good way to kick off the shopping experience."

While some know the exact item they want…

"Try to come see what you can find, too, but I really want a camera," said Towe.

Others come just to feel the Christmas spirit.

"Lots of times I have things I want to purchase here, but today I'm just here for fun," said Leach.

And if you think the lines are only hectic, many would disagree by telling you it's a chance to meet new people.

"I just met a new friend," said Leach. "This is Hannah, and I love that because I love to meet the public and make friends."

Don't forget, if you didn't get out Friday morning to brave the crowds, you can always shop online with many Cyber Monday deals coming up next week.
