The weekend after Thanksgiving is typically a busy weekend for those picking out the perfect Christmas tree but Governor Steve Beshear and his wife, Jane, already have theirs.
The holiday season kicks off next week at the State Capitol with the lighting of Kentucky's official Christmas tree.
The 30-foot-tall Norway Spruce will be lit Monday evening in front of the Capitol.
Governor Beshear and his wife will attend the ceremony and youth choirs will provide entertainment.
The tree was donated by Jackie and Joyce Gritton of Lawrenceburg.
