What is believed to be a record-breaking 21 candidates are vying for 12 spots in the November election for the six Russellville City Council seats.
Russellville Mayor Shirley Yassney says she believes 60 percent of the candidates are running because they are unhappy with the actions of the current city council with regard to the ongoing Electric Plant Board controversy. Taxpayers have spent more than $300,000 in the last year in legal fees for the battle between the city council and EPB over the controversial dismissal of three EPB members.
