House Benefits Schools

One area home is being built to help two Warren County schools.

Darrell Traughber and Kraig Richardson are giving the proceeds from a house in Brentwood Place to Lighthouse Academy and Moss Middle School.

They each wanted to give something back to the programs that helped their sons, Houston Traughber and Graham Richardson.

"He wanted to know about us building a house and calling it Graham's Friends House," Traughber said.

The proceeds from the sale of the home will go to a scholarship program at Lighthouse Academy and the Special Education program at Moss Middle.

Lighthouse provided a beacon of hope for Traughber's late son, Houston.

"It gave him the opportunity to graduate from high school. A typical classroom was a little bit difficult for him and he was in jeopardy of possibly dropping out of school," Traughber explained.

With all that Houston received from the school, Traughber wanted to provide other teens with the opportunity to continue their education.

"There's a lot of good kids down there. Some of them have made decisions to dropout and now they want to come back and finish their education," Traughber said.

The first Houston Traughber Memorial Scholarship was awarded at Lighthouse's graduation this year.

Traugber said he and Richardson are hoping to build another home next year to help out other schools.

The house in Brentwood Place will be finished in a couple of weeks.
Traughber and Richardson are hoping to raise a total of $20,000 to $30,000.

To get to the house head toward Logan County on Russellville Road. Once you get to the Natcher Parkway go another 1.5 miles. Turn right on Windover Street, then right on Brighton. There's a sign that says Graham's Friends House in the front yard. For pictures view the photo gallery below.
