BG Man Arrested After Stabbing

Bowling Green Police arrest a man after a stabbing on Fair Street around 7:30 p.m. on May 23, 2007.

Michael Wayne Szpyrka is jailed on a parole violation.

When police arrived they found Szpyrka pressing a towel against 48-year-old Michael P. Roney’s chest. Roney was covered in blood, lying on the floor of the porch of the home.

Szpyrka told officers he stabbed Roney in self defense after Roney cut his ear. Police found a bloody knife in Szpyrka’s sweatpants pocket.

He is jailed on an un-related charge.

Roney is recovering from surgery at The Medical Center.
