There’s a new leader for Kentucky’s Democratic party. Party Chairman Jerry Lundergan is planning to resign next week and on May 24, 2007, Democratic nominee for governor, Steve Beshear recommended Jonathan Miller for the position.
Miller is the State Treasurer, but because of term limits he couldn’t run for the post again.
He was in the race for governor, but dropped out and endorsed Beshear. He said he’s ready for the new job.
“It’s a difficult job and I’m volunteering to do it because I believe in Steve Beshear. We need to get a majority of Kentucky to agree with that,” Miller said.
The Central Executive Committee will vote on Miller’s nomination next week. The Republican party is also looking for a new leader.
