Students on Western's campus are digging into their pockets to buy books and may have to start digging even deeper next fall. Friday the board of regents voted to increase tuition by 10.4 percent. That means resident undergrads will pay $152 more next fall than they're paying now.

Students say balancing the cost of buying books and paying for tuition is quit a struggle. University officials say they gave a year's warning so parents and students could budget around the change.
