Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement makes its largest marijuana seizure in the department’s history, near Bowling Green.
According to KVE, a special operations officer stopped a tractor-trailer on Interstate 65 on May 27, 2007.
After talking to the driver, it was determined further inspection was necessary.
Officers found 1,400 pounds of marijuana which has a street value of about $2.8 million.
Two men, 48-year-old Kermit Garriques and 42-year-old Uriel Bell were arrested and charged with marijuana trafficking and possession of narcotics.
Both men, who are originally from Jamaica, are lodged in the Warren County Detention Center.
The previous top bust was in January of 2006 when officers hauled in 1,380 pounds.
