New Variation on the Classroom Blackboard

Remember when you were young and the teacher would call you to the chalk board? Well, White Boards replaced chalk boards in many schools long ago and now, technology has taken over and produced a whole new “chalkboard.”

This is a system called the Interactive White Board.

After installing about $80,000-worth of new equipment, all 15 sixth grade math classrooms in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, school district have one of these gadgets.

Now teachers prepare lesson plans, quizzes and board problems on their computer and project the information for students on a touch screen White Board.

Students can write and erase like before, but now, they can also move objects around and use electronic devices to submit their answers.

It all looks cool and technologically advanced and as long as it proves helpful in getting kids to learn, it will likely start popping up in other places too.
