During Cyber Monday, retail web sites have been trying to keep up the strong sales pace that began on the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Coremetrics, a sales tracking company in California, has estimated that so far online sales for Cyber Monday are up 20-percent since last year.
We found out safety is usually the number one reason people refuse to shop online.
"Things are getting more safe than they used to be, let's put it like that, and a lot of people are becoming familiar with the ways to make sure that you stay safe," said Linda Chambers, Better Business Bureau Manager of the Bowling Green branch.
From discounted prices to free shipping, Cyber Monday had many logging online to shop for the holidays, but not everyone is on board just yet.
"I think it's the younger generation that does a lot more shopping online," said Chambers. "I'm a baby boomer, so from years gone by, I didn't do any shopping online. It's not as comfortable for me."
Many in the younger generation say they do enjoy shopping online, but only trust web sites of companies they know, not random companies they've never heard of before.
"I've known people that have gotten ripped off from it, and I just don't feel comfortable," said Paige Womack, a Western Kentucky University student who enjoys shopping online at websites she knows. "There's too many predators on line, and you hear about it all the time."
But there are ways to stay safe, from knowing the company to looking for secure site symbols.
"If they have a trust link or a link to the Better Business Bureau go ahead and click on that because we have known people that have put on their website that they are online members of the Better Business Bureau, and they're not," said Chambers.
Other than the millions that logged on Monday, many believe online shopping will continue to grow in the near future.
"More and more people are getting comfortable with using the computer for lots of things," said Chambers. "I'm getting there. I'm just not there, yet."
Although online shopping has seen the most growth so far this year, the internet only accounts for about ten-percent of holiday shopping.
