Democrats Hold Second Debate

The top eight Democrats running for president battled it out in the party’s second debate in Southern New Hampshire on June 3, 2007.

Most of the debate dealt with terrorism and the war in Iraq and then went on to health care and immigration before the panel took questions from citizens.

Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden; former senators John Edwards and Mike Gravel; New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich rounded out the debaters.

A recent Washington Post ABC News poll found the former first lady leading the field with 42-percent support among adults, compared with 27 percent for Obama and 11 percent for Edwards.

Republicans hold their next debate on June 5, also in New Hampshire.
