All high school students are required to take the A.C.T. their Junior year in order to receive a score that tells them how prepared they are for college.

Sometimes, younger students take the test if they feel they are ready, and we found out one Sophomore at Franklin-Simpson High School received the highest score possible, a perfect 36.

"I was really hopeful because I had already taken it twice," said David Sekora. "I was like, I better get a 36 this time."

For this high school Sophomore, the other two times he took the test include once in the seventh grade, receiving a 29, and a second time more recently with a 35.

Sekora says he was going to keep going til he got his 36.

"This is going to sound really bad, but I didn't really study that much," said Sekora. "Most of it you learn in class anyway."

And they do get the chance to prepare for each section of the test while in the classroom.

"The ACT is a difficult test that determines college readiness of our students," said Jill Kummer, an Assistant Principal at Franklin-Simpson High School. "They take a test in reading, English, math, and science."

But for this Sophomore, a 36 on the A.C.T. isn't the only academic feat he's accomplished.

"I skipped sixth grade, but I had a lot of friends already in the grade I'm in right now just because of being in advanced classes," said Sekora.

He admits he isn't all academic.

He has many other interests as well, such as playing the saxophone, but his accomplishment is still getting him noticed.

"It's pretty amazing," said Kummer. "We were talking earlier trying to figure out the last time we had someone score a 36, a perfect score. I've been here for 14 years and don't remember anyone else scoring a perfect score."

He knows where he'd like to be in the near future.

"Next year I'm applying to the Gatton Academy at Western, so I'm really hoping I'm going to get in," said Sekora.

But he isn't completely sure where to go from there.

"That's the hard part," said Sekora. "There's so many things I like to do. I've got all of this math ability. I'm in Calculus right now, but I may not really want to do anything in math. Right now I'm playing saxophone, and I don't know what I'm going to do with that."

The A.C.T. is given several times a year.

During the September test, when Sekora received his 36, he was one of only three students in Kentucky to receive a perfect score.
