Bush Makes Last Stop on Tour

President Bush arrives in Bulgaria, the last stop on his week-long tour of Europe.

It was a low-key welcome in the capital, Sofia. The pomp and meetings will come on June 11, 2007.

The one-time Soviet-Bloc nation is now a staunch ally of the U.S. and Bush is hoping for a warm welcome like the one he received earlier in Albania.

Bulgaria is a host to several U.S. military installations and the country has just agreed to extend the deployment of its small contingent in Iraq through next year.

About the only problem Bulgaria has with Bush is that the president’s planned defense shield wouldn’t cover their country.

Earlier in Albania, Bush got a rousing welcome. The warm reception is due in part to his support for an independent Kosovo.
