County attorneys and police officers gathered in Bowling Green on June 11, 2007, to discuss communication between their departments.
The conference was called “Protecting Lives, Saving Futures.”
All of the agencies discussed how they approach DUI cases.
This is the first time Kentucky has held this type of conference.
“We want to increase our ability as far as prosecuting DUIs from a prosecutor’s standpoint. We want to be more adept to producing a better prosecution and trial,” said Bob Stokes, a Traffic Safety Resource prosecutor.
A representative from Mothers Against Drunk Driving also spoke at the conference. She was followed by WBKO’s Darla Oglesby who discussed the fatal crash that took her parents lives.
Jimmy and Shaleen Johnson were killed by a drunk driver in November 2005. Gary Pentecost was convicted on two counts of second degree manslaughter. He’s currently serving a 15-year sentence in prison.
