A mouth-watering journey to Owensboro brings you to the best BBQ in the world!
A true Kentucky tradition is just an hour away from Bowling Green.
Known as "The Barbecue Capital of the World," some said if it's not "Owensboro Barbecue," it's not barbecue.
Although there's many barbecue restaurants in Owensboro worthy of television time, Moonlite Barbecue is perhaps the most famous.
Some will vow Moonlite Barbeque, in it's fourth generation, is the best barbeque in the world.
"Cooking at Moonlite is a bit of an art form. We don't have a rotisserie pit we have a wood fire pit with hot spots," owner Pat Bosley explained as he throws wood into the fire. "The art is the control - how much air we let in; how much wood we put in; the air you let flow across the wood."
It's no secret what makes Owensboro barbecue unique - it's mutton or barbecued sheep. Bosley said it tastes like "tangy beef," and it's really good in a popular stew called Burgoo.
"I guess what makes Burgoo unique is that it's a hot soup famous in the summer time," Bosley said.
He joked that every local cook around Daviess County, Ky., probably has their own recipe. But one thing they all agree upon is that it has to have Mutton in it and has to be thick stew.
But if you're shying away for something different, Moonlite's chicken and Boston Butt are a true Kentucky delicacy.
