Ag. Commissioner Nominee Arrested

The Democratic nominee for State Agriculture Commissioner has been arrested and charged with menacing, following an incident with his niece.

Sixty-eight-year-old David Lynn Williams was arrested on June 8, 2007, after threatening his niece, Glasgow City Clerk Sheila Oliver.

Oliver told Williams the documents he requested through Kentucky Open Records Law, weren’t available. She said Williams accused her of lying and became agitated.

Oliver said Williams told her if she were a man he’d knock her through the door.

Williams admitted he told Oliver he would hit her if she was a man.

Williams spent an hour in jail before being released on a $500 unsecured bond.
