Students at Richpond Elementary collected items to send to marines in Afghanistan.

John Henning says the project started small, but spread quickly to six buses.

The students collected enough goodies to fill 21 boxes.

"I'm a former Marine Corp. Veteran and I know how it feels to be overseas, especially during the holiday season," said Henning.

The items were mailed overseas on New Year's Eve.
