First Woman Sergeant Major from Ky.

A woman from Cadiz, Ky., becomes the Kentucky National Guard’s first female sergeant major.

Teresa A. Rea was pinned by her husband, Tommy, during a ceremony at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center in Greenville on June 16, 2007.

Rea has 22 years in the military including deployments to Guantanamo Bay and supporting Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

She will be stationed at the headquarters of the 238th Regiment, Combat Arms, which mans the officer candidate school and basic non-commissioned officer course.

The state command sergeant major said Rea was selected because she knows Army values and lives them.
