A Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation survey has found food prices in the state declined by nearly 6 % in 2009.
A statement from the bureau says a December survey of 40 popular grocery items showed an average total cost of 105 dollars compared with 111 dollars at the beginning of 2009.
The December cost average was just a penny higher than the previous survey in October.
The Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation conducts the survey as a tool to reflect retail food pricing trends and their relationship to what farmers receive for their commodities.
