The Glasgow Board of Education has accepted its superintendent's resignation. It came as a surprise to some, but after learning superintendent Kathy Goff may have a job offer elsewhere, it made more sense.

One board member says they'll be working fast to get an interim superintendent in place. And soon enough, Warren County Public Schools may be seeing a little more of Kathy Goff. "There was a lot of surprise, we were not expecting Mrs. Goff to leave us so soon into her contract," said Elaine Richardson, a board member for the Glasgow Independent School District.

But some parents waiting to pick their children up from Glasgow High School weren't surprised. One mother says she had heard rumors Kathy Goff was leaving after the winter break, but no one knew why.

"She is taking a position with the Warren County school system as assistant superintendent in charge of curriculum," said Richardson.

Richardson adds while she's sad to see her leave, Goff has done very good things for the district during her 18 month stint.

"She's leaving us in wonderful financial condition, we got the most glowing auditor's report at our last board meeting that we've had since I was on the board."

While Richardson says Goff leaves behind a proficient record, the school board has some big tasks ahead."Our next step obviously will be to find someone to take the helm as an interim superintendent," said Richardson. But the search for a more permanent superintendent may take a little while longer. "If humanly possible we would like to have the new superintendent hired by the first of july," adds Richardson.

Warren County superintendent Tim Murley has recommended Goff serve as assistant superintendent here in Warren County. She'll first have to be approved by the Warren County board of education before before it's official.
