Hundreds of video gamers from around the world are in Kentucky. The 2007 World Series of Video Games is under way in Louisville.
Video game enthusiasts are in the midst of around-the-clock gaming action that will continue through June 24, 2007.
The event is touted as the world’s premier video game tournament circuit. It’s held as a six-city series that kicked off last month in China and concludes in Sweden in December 2007.
Seven-hundred and fifty thousand dollars in cash prizes will be awarded to this year’s top competitors, including $90,000 at the Louisville competition.
But beware, you may be surprised to find out there’s a move to make video game addiction an actual medical disorder.
The American Medical Association will debate the issue at a meeting in Chicago this weekend. The goal is to get the American Psychiatric Association to add it to its official manual.
The last time the manuel was significantly updated, was 13 years ago.
