Woodburn Barn Fire

A barn fire in Woodburn, Ky., claims part of a farmer’s precious hay supply.

A passerby stopped to tell Wade Ferguson something on his farm was burning. Ferguson and his daughter saw smoke in the back of the barn. He began removing the rolls, but soon most of them were up in flames. He had about 110-rolls of hay.

“For the cutting with my fertilizer, I got about $40 a roll in it and then the last I bought was around $30 a roll - so you’re talking a few thousand-dollars in losses,” Wade said.

“None of the animals were hurt. No people were hurt. Everything’s insured,” daughter, Felicia said.

Woodburn firefighter, Mickey Philips said spontaneous combustion was possibly to blame for the fire.

This is the third barn Ferguson has lost on the site. The other two were destroyed by wind.
