Farmers in 17 counties are eligible for Federal Disaster Assistance.
The assistance includes low interest emergency loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency, if the eligibility requirements are met.
On June 15, the entire state of Tennessee was given a Disaster Area Designation due to damages and losses caused by record low temperatures and a deep freeze April 4 through April 11, 2007.
As a result of the declaration, 17 Kentucky counties have been named as adjacent counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for loans. Those in our area are Allen, Christian, Clinton, Cumberland, Logan, Monroe, Simpson and Todd.
Farmers interested in applying for assistance should contact their local FSA county office.
