McConnell Directs Congressional Funding Toward Area

Senator Mitch McConnell has used his seniority on the Appropriations Committee to direct congressional funding to three area projects.

McConnell moved $275,000 to the Barren County Sheriff’s Department to purchase mobile data terminals and other communications equipment.

McConnell recommends $250,000 go to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department, also for mobile data terminals. He also wants Western Kentucky University to get $750,000 for its Kentucky Climate Center to help monitor droughts, flood warnings, disaster assessment and crop and livestock management.

The bill must still be approved by the full committee to be considered by the U.S. Senate.
