Bald Eagle No Longer Threatened Species

The American Bald Eagle is making a come-back and Kentucky now has an estimated 50 nesting pairs that live in the state year-round.

The population has grown to 11,040 pair in the lower 48 states and District of Columbia.

Government officials are expected to announce on June 28, 2007, that the bird is no longer a threatened species under the endangered species act.
