Last week on Adventures in Kentucky, I took an adventure to the skies in a fighter trainer aircraft. Tonight, I’ll meet up with a true adventurer from South Central Kentucky does his best to keep up.
Meet Harry Wilson. Many people in this area know Harry, but I’m sure that only a few of those people can keep up with him. For this adventure, he’s invited me and a few friends to his outdoor playground.
“I got the idea from the church where I go to in Upton, Ky. These guys sorta motivated me and got me going so the guys up there could come out here and work out,” Wilson said.
Wilson invites various church groups out to his property nearly every month and he takes them on a few adventures.
We begin the trip with a rappel from the top of a cliff. Wilson is very experienced and safety is of utmost concern. We each learn the safety procedures and how to help each other descend.
To keep things interesting, I attempted to climb back to the top, but that was unsuccessful.
The climbing and rappelling was only the tip of the iceberg. There was still much more to come.
“We’re getting ready to go on an obstacle course where we are gonna do a little running and hoping and vaulting and climbing a wall, and hand walking an extended ladder. We’ll be doing some log rolls and pull ups, push ups, and sit ups. This will take us about 20 minutes to go through this,” Wilson explained.
After leading us all the way through the obstacle course, the adventure continues on the zip line.
