New Retail Development Could Mean More Traffic

With a new Kohl's, Chick-Fil-A, and space for more stores, the area around the intersection of Campbell Lane and Scottsville Road is set to become even busier.

More than 40,000 cars a day cruise up and down Scottsville Rd., and the Campbell Ln. intersection is already one of the busiest in town. A new access road will be built to parallel Campbell Lane and help alleviate the traffic from new stores.

Near I-65, the city commission is expected to approve more than $1 million to build a new road to access a new Sam's Club set to begin construction soon.

With all of this new retail and the accompanying traffic, city planners say the best hope for traffic help may be finding new areas to develop shopping hubs on the north side of the city.
