Franklin Man Back in Custody After Escape

A Franklin man is back behind bars after a daring escape at the county line.

Authorities were transporting a prisoner from Warren County to Simpson County when he jumped out the back window of a sheriff's car and took off running in the woods. In a matter of minutes though, 33-year-old Timothy G. Nash of Franklin was back in custody.

Nash was being transported to the Simpson County Jail by Captain Paul Reels of the Simpson County Sheriff's Department. Nash was not wearing handcuffs and jumped out of the back window as the car was moving. From there, several back-up units were called in to assist in the search on foot.

We're told Nash sustained minor injuries after jumping out of the window and running through sticker bushes. After his capture, Nash was taken to the Medical Center at Franklin and then the Simpson County Jail.

The Sheriff's Department says Nash was being held on an assault charge in Warren County, but was being transported to Franklin for charges of DUI and alcohol intoxication. Additional charges are expected after Tuesday's incident.
