BB&T Bank Robber Pleads

A Los Angeles gang member pleads guilty to two bank robberies in Bowling Green.

Twenty-nine-year-old Claudell Antoine Hatter pleaded guilty in federal court to stealing more than $133,000 from BB&T Bank on the 31-W bypass on November 24, 2003; then stealing some $90,000 more from the same bank on May 24, 2004.

Authorities said Hatter and his accomplice, Jamal Saleem Smith, were both armed during the robberies. They are believed to be members of the West Covina Crips gang in Los Angeles which may be responsible for a series of bank robberies in Nashville.
