After almost two decades, Bowling Green's city government is about to re-enter the animal control business.
Beginning July 1, retired police officer Dale Blair will rejoin the force as a full-time animal control officer assigned to the city. The Warren County Sheriff's Department has been handling animal control county-wide, but will devote all of its efforts strictly to the county outside of city limits, and the officer currently patrolling the city will be reassigned to patrol duty.
Officer Blair says many citizens may not know all of the laws concerning animals and pets, so he says education will be his top priority: "Upfront what we want do is some educational programs to get out to neighborhoods and maybe distribute some materials on what the ordinances are; then maybe we'll work from there as far as enforcing them."
