TYCO Electronics to Close Franklin Factory

By  |

Some area factory workers are picking up the pieces after they find out they'll soon be out of work.

Employees of Tyco Electronics called WBKO to let us know the plant will be closing, but it is 250 employees out of work, information we've also confirmed through Simpson County's Judge-Executive.

Judge Henderson says it's a tremendous hit, the largest loss of jobs he's seen since he was elected in 1999.

We're told layoffs could start as early as next month, and the factory is expected to close within a year.

Henderson says he's been told a few jobs in sales and design could possibly stay somewhere in this general region, but all manufacturing jobs will be eliminated.

We have put calls in to TYCO on the local and national levels. The general manager of the Franklin plant would not answer our questions, and we haven't been able to reach anyone on the national level.
