Palin was asked on Fox News Sunday about criticism of her support for the Bowling Green eye surgeon.
Palin called Paul a "federalist" who "wants the states to have more say."
She added she doesn't agree with Paul on every issue, but she likes him because he stands for limited government.
Though branded by some as a "libertarian," Paul told us he is a republican first, calling himself a "constitutional conservative," not a "libertarian."
"But I think the government should be restrained," said Paul. "It should be limited. That the Constitution intended government to be small, to balance its budget every year. And these are things that I think aren't radical ideas, they're very mainstream ideas. And so that's what we promote, as we promote our ideas around Kentucky."
Paul is facing Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson and others, in the may republican primary.
