Police tell us around 2:30 Friday afternoon, a Chevy Beretta was attempting to pass several vehicles on US 31 E at high speeds and ended up crashing into a Chevy Cavalier head on. Alcohol is believed to be involved with the Chevy Beretta.
The driver of that vehicle, 35-year-old James Branstetter of Park City, was killed, as were his two passengers, 53-year-old Silas Richard Craine Jr. and Earl M. Craine, of Cave City and Horse Cave respectively.
The passenger of the Chevy Cavalier, 52-year-old Deborah Johnson of Campbellsville, was also killed. The driver of that car, 49-year-old Eunice Shears of Campbellsville was stat-flighted to the University of Louisville hospital, but at the request of her family, her condition will not be released.
