Tuesday night, members of the Kentucky League Of Cities will be in Bowling Green as part of a listening tour to find out the concerns of citizens, as well as addressing its recent scandal.
WBKO found out just how the city has benefited over the year by being a member city of the organization.
Mayor Elaine Walker says the Kentucky League Of Cities has been representing communities like Bowling Green for many years... in many different ways.
One of these ways is through grants for the city's offices.
For example, over the past few years the city have received $3,000 grants to provide hearing tests to city workers exposed to loud noise for prolonged periods of time.
Many city workers are also under insurance provided by the Kentucky League Of Cities.
"KLC provides multiple lines of insurance coverage for the city including worker's comp, general liability, law enforcement liability, public officials liability," says City of Bowling Green Safety and Risk Manager, David Weisbrodt.
"So by working closely with the "League", we're able to benefit financially since they use these grants generated by insurance programs and it really helps us because it gives us additional funding," says Walker.
Weisbrodt says the KLC provides for a lot of the training that city workers receive on a regular basis.
Sometimes KLC members even come into town to access risk in order to help the city comply with "OSHA" guidelines.
"If we have a question regarding noise studies or certain chemicals we might be applying to our golf courses or soccer fields they can come down and look at those chemicals," notes Weisbrodt.
In addition, KLC has provided the city free legal advice and acts as a lobbyist for the city in Frankfort on many issues.
However, the Kentucky League Of Cities has come under fire in the past few months for the conduct of some of its employees.
