Preliminary statistics indicate that eleven people died in ten separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways during the five-day Independence Day holiday.

The period ran from 6 p.m. July 3, 2007, to July 8. State police say five of the fatalities involved motor vehicles and one of the victims was not wearing a seatbelt. Three motorcycle crashes resulted in four fatalities. None of the highway fatalities were reported on the fourth of July.
Last year, there were 16 fatalities on Ky. roadways.
