It's back to the drawing board for the State Board of Education in its search for a new commissioner .
Barbara Erwin was supposed to begin her new job as education commissioner on July 16, 2007. Instead, she resigned last Friday due to what she called "noise from the media" about concerning a police investigation into a missing personnel file at the school district she's leaving in Illinois.
The Ky. State Board of Education voted unanimously on July 14 to accept Erwin's resignation. Current Interim Commissioner Kevin Noland has been asked to stay on until another interim commissioner can be found.
