Benefit Plans Remain Up For Debate

The abrupt ending of the special session of the General Assembly means you can add another hot topic to this fall's gubernatorial election .

Governor Ernie Fletcher had hoped lawmakers would use the session to bar health insurance coverage at state universities for anyone other than employees and their families.

However, House Democrats refused to take part in the special session, meaning benefit plans will remain up for debate in the fall. The governor signed an order last week asking lawmakers to come back to Frankfort at the end of the month to give it another try
