People may be staying closer to home due to high fuel and travel prices .
Southwest Airlines, the country's leading low-fare carrier, has hiked its ticket prices. This is Southwest's fourth increase this year. The price of fuel is to blame for the increases and now other airlines are following suit.
"When Southwest raises fares, say, in Raleigh-Durham, that means Delta can raise fares in Raleigh-Durham, in Charlotte, Nashville and in Jacksonville," Airline Analyst, Mike Boyd, said.
It's not just airfares. Triple-A says rental car and hotel rates are up this summer also.
