The father of Christina Renshaw speaks out about his daughter's slaying.

On Friday, the penalty phase began in the trial for the man accused of killing her.

50-year-old Lawrence Stinnett was found guilty late Thursday of intentional murder and kidnapping in connection with Renshaw's death at her apartment back in 2006.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, and on Friday Renshaw's family wanted jurors to know how much losing Christina meant.

"We have been asked to try and explain to you the feelings and effects of Chrissy's death. I will do the best I can but doubt that I will even be able to come close to our actual feelings," said Claude Lovan, Christina's father.

She had a smile that could melt a frozen heart. Those were words from an emotional testimony given by Lovan as he told the jury about having to live without his daughter for the last four years.

"I miss her more today than I did yesterday and the day before."

As her now convicted killer sat inside the courtroom, Lovan said Lawrence Stinnett's actions on February 3rd, 2006, brought an emptiness to the family that can never be replaced.

"This became painfully obvious the first day I saw Mr. Stinnett's dad here and he turned to him and said, 'Hi, dad.' I will never have that privilege again in my life from Christina," Lovan said.

Christina Renshaw left behind three children -- now 15, 11 and 10.

On Friday, Lovan kept a promise to his oldest grandson by reading a statement of his.

"You have taken my mommy. She will not see me graduate from school. She will not be there to see me get married. I will not get to do anything with her again. I hate you and will never forgive you for this."

The penalty phase will continue Wednesday when the defense will have a chance to call its own witnesses to testify.
