Oldest Sheriff in KY Dies

Jewell Groves of Franklin died Wednesday at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Groves became Sheriff of Simpson County in 1974 when he was 69 years old. He was a member of the Kentucky Sheriff's Association and a few years ago, he received the hometown hero award as the oldest living sheriff in Kentucky.

Visitation for Groves will begin at noon tomorrow at Crafton Funeral home in Franklin. The funeral is scheduled for Friday at three at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Mitchellsville First Baptist Church building fund or the Kentucky Sheriff's Association Boys and Girls camp.
