Members of the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) came back to the U.S. Army post Tuesday -- their second return in a year's time. The unit returned from Iraq last summer.
The News-Enterprise reported unit commander Colonel Robin B. Akin said, "The biggest challenge was going into a country that has nothing."
The unit performed logistical duties, supplying survivors and American troops with food, medicine, water and mail.
Staff Sergeant Thierry Alexandre, who was born in Haiti, volunteered for the mission and interpreted Haitian Creole for U.S. troops. Alexandre is a member of the 16th Cavalry Regiment.
