With 2010 census forms about to hit your mailbox, scammers are already trying to take advantage of people.

2010 census officials want you to know, they do not ask for your social security number, or money, or conduct the census via the internet, nor do they request pin numbers or passwords to your bank account or credit cards.

The Better Business Bureau of Bowling Green says it's been contacted about suspicious scams, but the best advice is to not give out any personal information.

"And I spoke personally to the people with the Census Bureau," said BG Better Business Bureau Manager Linda Chamber, "and they said they will not ask for any bank account numbers, credit card numbers, and they will not ask for your social security number--anywhere on the census."

Chambers also says if you do feel you've been a scammed, contact the Postal Inspector. It's a felony to try to scam someone through the U.S. Postal Service."

Census workers will only go door-to-door starting in May, and only to the homes of people who did not fill out their census forms.
