A House committee has given initial approval to a bill that would essentially bar lawmakers from voting to give salary increases to themselves.

A House committee has given initial approval to a bill that would essentially bar lawmakers from voting to give salary increases to themselves.
The legislation would establish a 16 member independent commission to periodically review the salaries paid to lawmakers and other elected officials, including the governor.
The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.
