Law Enforcement Competition Helps Young Explorers

The fifth annual Bowling Green Police Dept. Law Enforcement Explorer Competition was held on July 28, 2007 .

Explorers are young people, ages 14-to-20, that have an interest in law enforcement or related careers.

Explorers from all over the state competed in events such as traffic stops, Hazmat incidents, domestic disturbances and hostage situations.

"The training they receive in a classroom, they can put into practical application here which will help them hopefully if they move into a futher career of a law enforcement officer," explained Michael Keffer, advanced police officer for the Bowling Green Police Dept.

Along with the BGPD, representatives from Kentucky State Police, Warren County Sheriff's Dept., Emergency Management, Air-Evac and a retired firefighter all helped out with the event.
