FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A bill aimed at cracking down on the problem of teenagers sending nude photos via cell phones or online has advanced in the Kentucky General Assembly.

The measure easily cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

The proposal tries to tackle the problem of sexting -- the sharing of sexually explicit photos or videos by cell phone or online. The bill would allow judges to fine minors $100 and order them to perform community service for first-offense sexting.

The committee made some changes to the bill. If those revisions are accepted by the full Senate, the measure would go back to the House to consider the changes.

The legislation is House Bill 143.
