RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- Richmond police have made two arrests in a violent home invasion because the victim said she recognized the intruders as her former students.
WKYT-TV in Lexington reported the arrests of 18-year-old Dejean 'D.J' Cannedy and a 16-year-old boy about four hours after Marsha Perkins was confronted by a man with a gun in her home Wednesday morning.
The victim was repeatedly struck in the head with the gun.
The station reported members of Perkins' family said she recognized the voices of her masked attackers as former students she taught at Bellview and Madison elementary schools in Richmond.
Officers said they found jewelry and coins taken from Perkins in the residence where the suspects were found.
