NASA engineers hope to fix a newly-discovered cabin leak aboard space shuttle Endeavour and test the repair by Aug. 2, 2007.
A spokesman said the timing is tight, but if everything goes right including the weather, the shuttle can launch on schedule by the evening of August 7.
The leak was traced to a pressure-relief valve behind the toilet in Endeavour’s crew cabin.
NASA is replacing the bad valve with one from Atlantis.
The shuttle is set to carry a crew of seven up for more construction work on the International Space Station.
The countdown is set to start on August 4.
