WKU hosted The Girls Annual Science Day this afternoon on the hill.

Over two-hundred girls ranging from 4th grade up to 7th participated in Western's Oogden College of Science and Engineering classes.

The group was able to participate in three out of 12 different classes being offered. Those included Tthe Life of a Bee-keeper, demonstration of a volcano and seeing tricks behind optical illusions.

Observatory Education Teacher, Dr. Rachel Campbell says this is a good way to inspire them in their pursuit of Science Technology and Mathematics.

"It's for girls who have an interest in science and would like to learn more about it. But also for girls who don't really know what science means and just be inspired and found out how science is really fun and interesting and involved a lot of the things they do everyday."

At the end of the day The Department of Engineering and Lunabotics team held a demostration of a lunar excavator which is being constructed for a NASA roobot competition.
